JJ Rhatigan & Company to transform Colliers Wood Tower

JJ Rhatigan & Company is to transform the Colliers Wood Tower in South West London under a £25m contract.

The Colliers Wood Tower, or The Brown and Root Tower as it is also known, is one of the best known landmarks in Colliers Wood in South West London.  This 17 storey, black, concrete framed building was voted one of the 12 ugliest buildings in the UK in a 2005, Channel 4 poll and in 2006 it was voted the clear winner in The Ugliest Building in London poll carried out by the BBC.
The Design & Build project involves partial demolition and structural alterations to the existing tower block and the construction of a new 6 storey concrete framed building which will be connected to the existing tower.  The development will consist of 173 apartments, ground floor retail units and extensive landscaping works which have been coordinated with Merton Council and Transport for London’s footpath and road re-surfacing works in this area which have also recently commenced.
