Minister for Health Simon Harris TD officiated the sod turning ceremony at the new Boyle Primary Care Centre site today. The ceremony was also attended by Denis Naughton TD, Senator Frank Feighan, Senator Maura Hopkins, along with representatives from the HSE. The Boyle Primary Care Centre is part of a €140m PPP Primary Care Centres project being completed by JJ Rhatigan & Company as part of a construction joint venture with Balfour Beatty Ireland, in a consortium comprised of Prime, Balfour Beatty and InfraRed Capital Partners Limited.
The centres, ranging in size from 1,500m² to 5,000 m² gross floor area, are expected to be delivered in over a twenty-seven month programme, with facilities being built in Dublin, Galway, Kildare, Limerick, Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo, Waterford, Tipperary and Wexford.
All 14 Primary Care Centres will include General Practitioner (GP) services. In addition a number of centres will include a wider range of community based services such as dental services, community mental health services, child and adolescent mental health services, early intervention teams, and doctor on call services. Based on the concept of ‘One project, fourteen communities’, each centre has been designed to meet local needs and ultimately enhance local communities nationwide.
