JJ Rhatigan & Company Celebrates the Topping Out of IADT Dun Laoghaire

Leading Irish building contractor JJ Rhatigan & Company and Enbarr Education Ltd, in partnership with the National Development Finance Agency (NDFA), the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science (DFHERIS), the Higher Education Authority (HEA) and the Institute of Art, Design + Technology, Dún Laoghaire (IADT), is proud to announce the successful topping out of the Digital Media Building at IADT Dun Laoghaire.

The celebration took place on Wednesday, August 30, and marks a significant milestone in the construction of the Higher Education PPP Bundle 1 (HEB1) project, delivering six new buildings focusing on STEM, ICT, Engineering, and Life Sciences facilities, at IADT and Technological University campuses in Tallaght, Blanchardstown, Tralee, Athlone and Cork. The topping out ceremony at IADT signifies the completion of the main structural elements of the building and is an important landmark for a construction project of this scale and national importance.

Speaking at the event Gemma McRann, Senior Vice President at Macquarie Capital (Enbarr Partnership) said, “We are proud to support the delivery of such an important project in Ireland together with our trusted consortium partners, and to celebrate the significant progress that has been made across all six new higher education facilities within nine months of reaching financial close.”

Progress

“We are happy with progress at IADT and across the other five buildings within the HEB1 project. We expect to have all six buildings completed by Q2 2025 as planned.” commented Ger Ronayne, CEO of JJ Rhatigan & Company. “This project represents an important milestone in the Government’s higher education public private partnership (PPP) programme. We are delighted to be working with the NDFA again, building upon our strong relationship. I appreciate the trust placed in us and look forward to many more successful projects together.”

Built to a high-quality standard the new Digital Media Building at IADT will house the animation and visual design communications labs, further strengthening IADT’s offering in the fields of Art, Design, and Technology. The building is part of a broader PPP programme to develop circa 38,060 m2 of additional building space at the six campuses that will cater for circa 5,147 additional student places.

Thanking the JJ Rhatigan team and the project delivery partners, Ger Ronayne further added, “Our clients trust us and, more importantly, the higher education communities trust us, to deliver six great facilities. Days like today show what amazing things happen when we work together.”
