Construction works commence on Kevin Street Garda Station
JJ Rhatigan & Company has commenced works on the new Garda Divisional Headquarters, which will be adjacent to the existing Kevin Street Garda station, a Protected Structure (formerly called St. Sepulchre’s Palace). This project is a two phase development, the first phase of which is now complete (Groundworks). This second phase of the works will consist of the construction of a new 6,840m² Garda Divisional Headquarters building with a 5,400m² double basement. The development consists of a 2-3 storey building with flat roofs along the west boundary; a 5 storey building with flat roof and curved street elevation along the east boundary and a connecting glazed atrium with a mono-pitch glass roof. The accommodation includes offices, conference facilities, vehicular testing, garage/workshops, stores, public reception, prisoner processing areas, plant, ESB sub-station, landscaped roof terrace and associated ancillary spaces.
The site is archaeologically resolved. The finished built development will achieve 100% site coverage and JJ Rhatigan & Company will be required to manage resources and space accordingly along with restricted site access. The building works will include monitoring to safeguard adjacent protected structures.
