JJ Rhatigan supports the CIF Ireland Skills Live in the RDS
JJ Rhatigan was delighted to be involved in the inaugural Ireland Skills Live an initiative that supports the Government’s strategy on skills and apprenticeships.
Over 15,000 visitors attended this hugely successful event in the RDS, Dublin – March 21st to 23rd. Our JJ Rhatigan team really enjoyed speaking with students, teachers and parents, all interested in finding out more about career opportunities in construction. It was inspirational to see so many talented apprentices, trainees and full time students competing in their disciplines throughout the weekend event. Congratulations to the winners and all of the competitors involved in the Ireland Skills Awards.
As a main contractor we engage on a day-to-day basis with subcontractors that support apprenticeships and we value their commitment. Although we do not directly employ tradesmen, and subsequently apprentices, we engage daily with members of our supply chain who do run apprenticeship programmes.
As part of our selection process when appointing trade contractors, we tend to look more favourably on those providing training and apprenticeship programmes. These preferred trade contractors find our projects safe and supportive environments on which their apprentices can experience construction industry best practice, innovative methods of construction, large-scale building solutions with industry leading skills and technologies.
JJ Rhatigan promotes a working environment of respect and fairness and encourages collaboration and mentoring among our direct employees and those of our trusted subcontractors and their apprentices. Apprentices on our sites gain first-hand insight into how a Tier 1 contractor operates as well as learning how to launch their careers in the construction industry.
