Galmere Industrial Unit

These works involved the construction of a new factory extension for Galmere Fresh Foods which produce soups, salads, other ranges of food products. This building consisted of a 1500m² extension to the existing factory which contains high risk & low risk food production areas. It also involved refurbishment to the existing office area and an extension to same.

The main factory extension was constructed using a steel portal frame supporting a mixture of single skin and insulated standing seam roofs at various levels. At high level, a microrib panel was installed to cover exposed steelwork. The external walls of the building were formed using a plastisol PIR core self supporting wall panel which was lined on the inside of the columns. The internal walls were formed using a mixture of PIR core panels and rockwool core panels, with a 9mm & 6mm epoxy resin floor finish to production areas and shake on grout in the non production areas.

In addition to the extension to the production area, there were remedial works within the existing building. This work was completed on a phased nature to facilitate full production within the factory during the construction period.

The office refurbishment consisted of the demolition of the existing roof and the construction of an additional story on top of the existing office building. The external walls consisted of 80mm thick microrib panel spanning horizontally. The new atrium entrance was completed in glazing. JJ Rhatigan & Co were aware of carrying out works in a live food production plant with utmost attention and care to ensure quality, sequencing of work and hygiene were of the highest standard.
