This 4,707 sqm Primary Care Centre features GP surgeries, dental surgeries, public health nursing rooms, staff facilities, and offices. It will provide a wide range of community-based services such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, mental health, speech, and language therapy. The ground floor main reception has a children’s play area complete with seating.
The facility is fully enabled for disabled access including induction audible loops for persons with hearing impairments. There is also an internal courtyard area which is accessible from the lower ground waiting area. Within the external grounds is a private sensory garden for the mental health patients. The car park contains 210 car parking spaces, 20 of which are wheelchair accessible.
The Balfour Beatty JJ Rhatigan Primary Care CJV is responsible for the design and construction of a total of 14 Primary Care Centres across Ireland, of which Waterford is one.
" JJ Rhatigan managed and delivered the construction of the Primary Care Centre in St Otteran’s, Waterford in an efficient, effective and professional manner on time to a very tight schedule and to a high standard. They worked closely with the Design Team and communicated to the client regularly to keep them abreast of the progress. When challenges arose, they were resolved quickly and cohesively with the involvement of all parties. Materials was successfully procured and installed which lead to a smooth running of site and resulted in staying within the programme.
The RDD process was carried out by JJ Rhatigan. This process was demanding and challenging and JJ Rhatigan undertook it with clear organisation and communication which led to a thorough safety file and compliance certification for handover.
